Helpful Websites: use these websites as resources--you might find a fabulous project; however, it might be too complex or too simple for our science fair. Feel free to get ideas that can be modified to fit within our timeline, ability to gather the needed supplies and your potential ability level.
Research Topic/Question Reminders:
*A note about sports science projects: projects with sports need to eliminate the variable of ability. For example, if you want to explore how different bats affect the distance a baseball goes after being hit, we cannot swing the bat because we cannot guarantee that the exact same force or angle is used for every swing. Talk more with your student/science teacher if you have more concerns. There are work-arounds for these projects that require creativity, thinking outside the box and some handy work.

Research Topic/Question Reminders:
- Can you complete at least 2 trials of your experiment/design in a one month time period?
- What are you measuring? (distance, mass, density, time, number of positive tests, etc.)
- Can you conduct your experiment safely? What safety precautions must you take during your experiment?
- What background information must you find in order to write your hypothesis and procedure?
- Does your project include experimenting with plants, tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, prescription drugs, projects that aren't "testable" or "measurable," projects that have fireballs, bombs (even chemical bombs) or use guns? Please find another topic and research question to use.
- Does your project involve people (even surveying people)? You need to get a series of permissions--plan ahead for this!
- Does your project involve bacteria? You need to find a mentor microbiologist.
